Taking Measure: Explorations in Number, Architecture, and Consciousness

Taking Measure is the new companion book (paperback or EPUB) to the highly acclaimed Secrets in Plain Sight video series by Scott Onstott, now approaching 2 million views.  Secrets in Plain Sight Vol. 2 is also out and available for download.

Taking Measure: Explorations in Number, Architecture, and Consciousness reveals patterns emergent in our universe from quantum to astronomic scales. Spatial and temporal codes appear in unexpected places, from our units of measure to the relationships between celestial bodies. Geometric and numeric encoding appears in architecture, in urban design, and in alignments across the Earth. Does this happen by pure coincidence, has it been done to preserve knowledge, or is it an ancient form of magic that continues to this day? Are the synchronicities we experience in our personal lives manifestations of these same patterns? This book takes a new look at familiar structures in the tangible world but also engages with the invisible world, including the question of consciousness.

Heavenly Vaults and Domes: The photogarphy of David Stephensen – Gallery

A meditation on the sublime has sustained David Stephenson’s (official site) artistic practice over 30 years, which has evolved through long-term, interrelated projects of inquiry. His photographs of the sublime ceilings of European sacred architecture have been published in two monographs with Princeton Architectural Press: Visions of Heaven: The Dome in European Architecture (2005) and Heavenly Vaults: From Romanesque to Gothic in European Architecture (2009, and showcased worldwide in many exhibitions.

“While the subject of my photographs has shifted…my art has remained essentially spiritual – for more than two decades I have been exploring a contemporary expression of the sublime – a transcendental experience of awe with the vast space and time of existence.”

Standing With Stones – Documentary Film/Book on Megalithic Britain & Ireland

Standing with Stones is a remarkable and unprecedented documentary film that takes the viewer beyond Stonehenge on an incredible journey of discovery that reveals the true wealth and extent of Neolithic and Bronze Age Britain & Ireland.

If you ever wondered what it would be like to travel the length and breadth of the British Isles, visiting the most intriguing and enigmatic monuments that our ancestors left us, from Cornwall through England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland to the outer reaches of the Hebrides and Orkney, then you will love this film.

Described by one magazine reviewer as “A stunning study of standing stones. A work of art.” (Fortean Times), this is no amateur travelogue. Written and presented by writer and explorer Rupert Soskin and shot and edited by broadcast producer Michael Bott, this film is a stunningly beautiful and absorbing two and a quarter hour tour of our ancient heritage in the company of an engaging and knowledgeable host – the journey of a lifetime.

Published by Thames & Hudson, ‘Standing with Stones, a photographic journey through megalithic Britain & Ireland’ is a guide to many of the lesser known sites.

Rupert’s stunning and original photographs act as windows into the past, which, together with his engaging and accessible text, encourage the reader to think afresh about the meaning and purpose of these monuments and at the same time open the eyes of travelers and enthusiasts to the great wealth and variety of henges, circles, dolmens, barrows and standing stones across the British Isles.

Paul Laffoley: The Boston Visionary Cell at Kent Fine Art, NY Jan. 4 – Mar. 9, 2013 + new online publication

(Kent Fine Art) The Boston Visionary Cell, founded by Paul Laffoley in 1971, was based on the model of an artists’ guild. Although there have been numerous presentations of Laffoley’s work over the past decade, the Boston Visionary Cell has never been examined in the context of his life’s work. It is a crucial piece in understanding Laffoley’s methodology. As stated in its founding charter, it was created “to develop and advance visionary art”:

We . . . believe that the evocation of the mystical experience by means of symbols, which has functioned as part of the intentioning process throughout the course of human history, is the intended direction of evolution that becomes most expressive through visual art during those periods in history that are characterized by rapid change, e.g., the twentieth century, which has seen a series of movements from the Modern era to the Post-Modern era, finally culminating in the Bauharoque era.

Our current exhibition extrapolates on the mission of the Boston Visionary Cell as it has related to Laffoley’s production over the past forty years. An extensive online publication will accompany the exhibition.

Marcahuasi Project – Public Google Maps collection of worldwide archaeological sites

(From the Marcahuasi homepage) Welcome to the Marcahuasi Project – a public collection of markers on Google Maps to get a decent display of ancient archaeological, megalithic, religious, mysterious and unexplained sites found all over the world.

The project was started by Jaimy Visser on April 4th, 2012, and has grown tremendously since then. Currently it has well over 750 locations marked and it’s still growing.

The purpose of this project is to make it easier to get into archeology, since most people don’t want to take the time to search through mountains of text to find something relevant to their interest. Each marker has got its’ respective Wikipedia page URL within it, meaning you can easily access more information about the location within 3 clicks of your mouse.

Chasing Ice – Our Changing Planet

The OFFICIAL TRAILER for 2012 Sundance Award-Winning film “Chasing Ice,” opening in theaters starting November 2012.

In the spring of 2005, National Geographic photographer James Balog headed to the Arctic on a tricky assignment: to capture images to help tell the story of the Earth’s changing climate. Even with a scientific upbringing, Balog had been a skeptic about climate change and a cynic about the nature of academic research. But that first trip north opened his eyes to the biggest story in human history and sparked a challenge within him that would put his career and his very well-being at risk.

Chasing Ice is the story of one man’s mission to change the tide of history by gathering undeniable evidence of our changing planet. Within months of that first trip to Iceland, the photographer conceived the boldest expedition of his life: The Extreme Ice Survey. With a band of young adventurers in tow, Balog began deploying revolutionary time-lapse cameras across the brutal Arctic to capture a multi-year record of the world’s changing glaciers.

As the debate polarizes America and the intensity of natural disasters ramps up globally, Balog finds himself at the end of his tether. Battling untested technology in subzero conditions, he comes face to face with his own mortality. It takes years for Balog to see the fruits of his labor. His hauntingly beautiful videos compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate. Chasing Ice depicts a photographer trying to deliver evidence and hope to our carbon-powered planet.

Alberto del Pozo: The Orisha Collection – Gallery

Alberto del Pozo, Ogun – blacksmith god of metal and war

Santeria (or La Regla Lucumi or Regla de Ocha) is an Afro-Cuban religion that combines the traditional belief systems of the Yoruba peoples of Nigeria and Benin with elements of Catholicism. It arose in the late 18th and early 19th centuries when the slave trade brought many of these people to the shores of Cuba, Brazil, Haiti, Trinidad and Puerto Rico. The slaves were expected to adopt the Catholic religion, which they did, but with a twist: they incorporated the Saints among their traditional deities or Orisha (Oricha). [BibliOdyssey]

Solar (R)evolution the film – Science, Consciousness, Evolution & the Sun

Does the sun have the power to transform humankind?

In SOLAR (R)EVOLUTION, world-renowned German biophysicist Dieter Broers makes a compelling case, pointing to a wealth of scientific evidence that shows a remarkable correlation between increases in solar activity and advances in our creative, mental, and spiritual abilities.

We are in the midst of a dramatic rise in solar disturbances, which have the capability of disrupting the Earth’s geomagnetic field and, as a result, our global ecology. Broers, however, sees this not as an impending apocalypse but as the dawn of a new era.

Drawing on research from a variety of disciplines, he shows how erupting solar activity carries the potential to boost our brain capacity and expand our minds in ways we never imagined possible. Abilities now seen as extraordinary or supernatural – telepathy, extrasensory perception, and off-the-charts intelligence quotients – may soon become ordinary and natural and could very well help us solve the mounting global crises we are facing.

Without a doubt, the way we think, feel, relate, communicate, and experience reality has been changing dramatically in recent years, and Dieter Broers affirms those changes will ultimately culminate in a new form of consciousness and harmony on Earth. Humankind is going through an evolutionary leap, says Broers, and the process has already begun.

What Is Hurricane Sandy Telling Us? A Talk with John Perkins

(Reality Sandwich) Is Sandy an isolated, freak weather event, as much mainstream media coverage would have you believe, or is it something more? I spoke earlier today with John Perkins, author of the best-selling memoir, Confessions of an Economic Hitman, as well as a number of books about shamanism, including Shapeshifting: Techniques for Global and Personal Transformation. I was hoping to hear a different perspective from someone deeply familiar with indigenous shamanic wisdom. I was not disappointed. –Ken Jordan

Matt Presti – Dr. Walter Russell: Seed of the Cosmic Man (Radio 3Fourteen)

Matt Presti is an artist, musician, philosopher and cosmologist who has been emphasizing the philosophical and scientific ideas of an American polymath by the name of Dr. Walter Russell born in 1871. Walter posited that the universe was founded on a unifying principle of rhythmic balanced interchange. This physical theory, laid out primarily in his books The Secret of Light (1947) and The Message of the Divine Iliad (1948-49), has not been accepted by mainstream scientists. Matt will share the philosophies of Walter Russell, including his views on consciousness, the universe, meditation and creation. We’ll explore Walter Russell’s knowing-conceiving-thinking idea, forming the seed of idea into a body with a soul and awakening genius. Also, we talk about the current co-creation clash between god forms with the godless forms and the dawn of the cosmic man. Later, Presti elaborates on the law of equal giving for re-giving and discusses the law of balance, which will cause the current godless power structures to crumble.
