Playing pop music via paper posters with conductive ink

Paper posters that play music via printed circuits made with conductive ink have been unveiled. The prototype “Listening Post” poster is a guide to bands performing locally.

The interactive poster plays a short clip of a band’s music when a thumbnail image is pressed. Tickets can also be booked via the poster. The low cost of printing mean anything that uses paper or card could soon be much more interactive, said the poster’s inventors.

It is one of several “paper apps” that have been developed by a consortium of British scientists, musicians and researchers being demonstrated at the South By Southwest Show in Austin, Texas […]

Work was also going ahead on shrinking circuit boards so they too can be incorporated in the printing process. The posters marry printed conductive ink trails with a small circuit board holding a speaker and a small amount of memory. The low cost of paper and the fact that conductive inks can be applied via ordinary printing presses would quickly drive adoption […]

Power To The People Webinar with Nassim Haramein and Daniel Pinchbeck – March 25, 2012 3pm

In a one-time interview with Evolver director Daniel Pinchbeck, Nassim Haramein will discuss his controversial work that posits the existence of an unlimited source of energy, accessible through understanding the deep structure of matter. His theory proposes that we can only reach this transformative threshold by undergoing a shift in consciousness. We require an initiatory level of psychic preparation before we can handle technologies that may have been known to ancient civilizations, perhaps given as bequests from galactic visitors who were connected with our planet long ago. Nassim has done experimental work verifying his theories. In this unique one-time webinar, we will discuss the physics behind his hypotheses, how this technology could become available to humanity, and what type of transformation of planetary consciousness is necessary as part of this process.

Curious paper from The Federal Reserve on the effects of geomagnetic storms on stock markets

Explaining movements in daily stock prices is one of the most difficult tasks in modern finance. A recent working paper contributes to the existing literature by documenting the impact of geomagnetic storms on international stock market returns.

A large body of psychological research has shown that geomagnetic storms have a profound effect on people’s moods, and, in turn, people’s moods have been found to be related to human behavior, judgments and decisions about risk. An important finding of this literature is that people often attribute their feelings and emotions to the wrong source, leading to incorrect judgments. Specifically, people affected by geomagnetic storms may be more inclined to sell stocks on stormy days because they incorrectly attribute their bad mood to negative economic prospects rather than bad environmental conditions. Misattribution of mood and pessimistic choices can translate into a relatively higher demand for riskless assets, causing the price of risky assets to fall or to rise less quickly than they otherwise would.

Authors Anna Krivelyova and Cesare Robotti find strong empirical support in favor of a geomagnetic-storm effect in stock returns after controlling for market seasonals and other environmental and behavioral factors. Unusually high levels of geomagnetic activity have a negative and statistically significant effect on the following week’s stock returns for nine out of 10 countries and 12 out of 13 indices in the authors’ sample. The paper also provides evidence of substantially higher returns around the world during periods of quiet geomagnetic activity. The effect appears to be relevant from an economic point of view.

Figure 33: Spiral Periodic Table of the Elements
The Periodic Table of the Elements may be represented as spiraling out from the
central hydrogen. Each layer of the table is defined by the number of electron rings
filled out from the centre of hydrogen. An inert gas forms the basis for each layer.

Paul Burley “The Sacred Sphere” – Upcoming Interview, March 20

Paul D. Burley is an engineer and environmental geologist who has researched world mythology, pictographic and architectural symbolism, and sacred landscapes expressing spiritual traditions around the world. His journey to understand the meaning of Native American medicine wheels led him to study sacred symbolism exhibited by cultures over tens of thousands of years. His analysis of that symbolism has resulted in a new understanding of the sacred life ways of ancient and indigenous peoples. In 2003, author Paul D. Burley discovered a Native American Medicine wheel located in the Rocky mountains of Wyoming at an elevation of more then 10,00 feet. Researching prehistoric artifacts, ethnographic records, and cultural traditions and mythologies, he realized that the same circular and geometry is associated with all religions and indigenous life ways dating back to more then one million years.

Visit his website to learn about his new book, The Sacred Sphere, which explores modern, ancient, and indigenous traditions, demonstrating that cultures around the world, throughout time, communicated vital concepts with circular symbols each of which is a facet of a specific, yet until now, unrecognized universal spherical geometry.

Also, tune into Other World Radio on March 20, 2012 for a live interview.
Topic: We will discuss with Paul the specific combination of nine great circles, the geometric constructs, and the concepts of dimensions of space and time and the relationships between physical and metaphysical universes.

Ancient Builders Created Monumental Structures that Altered Sound and Mind, Say Researchers

The results of recent research suggests that ancient, or prehistoric, builders of the monumental structures found in such diverse places as Ireland, Malta, southern Turkey and Peru all have a peculiarly common characteristic — they may have been specially designed to conduct and manipulate sound to produce certain sensory effects.

Beginning in 2008, a recent and ongoing study of the massive 6,000-year-old stone structure complex known as the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum on the island of Malta, for example, is producing some revelatory results. Like its related prehistoric temple structures on Malta, this structure features central corridors and curved chambers. But this structure is unique in that it is subterranean, created through the removal of an estimated 2,000 tons of stone carved out with stone hammers and antler picks. Low voices within its walls create eerie, reverberating echoes, and a sound made or words spoken in certain places can be clearly heard throughout all of its three levels. Now, scientists are suggesting that certain sound vibration frequencies created when sound is emitted within its walls are actually altering human brain functions of those within earshot.

“Regional brain activity in a number of healthy volunteers was monitored by EEG through exposure to different sound vibration frequencies,” reports Malta temple expert Linda Eneix of the Old Temples Study Foundation,  “The findings indicated that at 110 Hz the patterns of activity over the prefrontal cortex abruptly shifted, resulting in a relative deactivation of the language center and a temporary shifting from left to right-sided dominance related to emotional processing and creativity. This shifting did not occur at 90 Hz or 130 Hz……In addition to stimulating their more creative sides, it appears that an atmosphere of resonant sound in the frequency of 110 or 111 Hz would have been “switching on” an area of the brain that bio-behavioral scientists believe relates to mood, empathy and social behavior. Deliberately or not, the people who spent time in such an environment under conditions that may have included a low male voice — in ritual chanting or even simple communication — were exposing themselves to vibrations that may have actually impacted their thinking.” […]

Joel Clark’s Visionary Egyptian Art – Gallery

Bio – At 23, Joel yearned to have his walls hanging with painted scenes from the tombs and temples of Egypt, but where to find them? Moved by a strange impulse, he put pencil to paper and astonished himself by the copy of a tomb portrait of Ramses II’s beautiful queen, Nefertari, which materialized before him. At that moment, something resonated deep within his soul. Eerily, for an instant, time seemed to melt away. It was as if a voice out of the mists of antiquity was calling him, urging him to awaken memories long lost to the lower consciousness, but alive and real beyond the veil of the physical.

Driven solely by a desire to follow the urgings of that voice, Joel embarked on a mission of self-discovery and artistic endeavor of which Ancient Egypt became the wellspring of inspiration. Focused on a realization of higher-self, Joel has battled everyday life and economics to find the retreat and solitude necessary to accomplish his work. Having no formal training in art, he had to discover the medium and techniques, the discipline and focus, which would allow him to capture his unending visions in increasingly sophisticated and complex works.

Joel understands that he is intricately connected with Ancient Egypt among other past cultures, the images, and mystical visions of which flash before his inner sight. It is in the spirit of gratitude and humility for this gift that he feels part of himself a “child,” or “one who was formed,” by this mighty, mysterious, radiant, and wise “model of civilization,” beloved by all enlightened souls.

To Understand is to Perceive Patterns – Jason Silva Video

“Networks are everywhere. The brain is a network of nerve cells connected by axons, and cells themselves are networks of molecules connected by biochemical reactions. Societies, too, are networks of people linked by friendships, familial relationships and professional ties. On a larger scale, food webs and ecosystems can be represented as networks of species. And networks pervade technology: the Internet, power grids and transportation systems are but a few examples. Even the language we are using to convey these thoughts to you is a network, made up of words connected by syntactic relationships.”

‘For decades, we assumed that the components of such complex systems as the cell, the society, or the Internet are randomly wired together. In the past decade, an avalanche of research has shown that many real networks, independent of their age, function, and scope, converge to similar architectures, a universality that allowed researchers from different disciplines to embrace network theory as a common paradigm.’

Kepler on the relationship of the circle to its center

Profound excerpt from Johannes Kepler (1604) with sparks of modern day holographic theory, see Leonard Susskind’s lecture on The World as a Hologram and The Fabric of the Cosmos for video reference.  Even more relevant is the notion of expanding the density of a point (proton) to define the sphere (universe) as explored by Nassim Haramein in his most recent paper on the Cosmological Constant.

“… the centre point is, as it were, the origin of the spherical body; the outer surface the image of the innermost point, as well as the way to arrive at it; and the outer surface can be understood as coming about by an infinite expansion of the point beyond itself until a certain equality of all the individual acts of expansion are reached. The point spreads itself out over the extension so that point and surface are identical, except for the fact that the ratio of density and extension is reversed. Hence there exists everywhere between point and surface the most beautiful harmony, connection, relation, proportion and commensurability, And, although centre, surface and distance are manifestly three, yet they are One, so that no one of them could be even imagined to be absent without destroying the whole.”
